Details of Universal Lawsuit (interesting read!)

http://www.leagle.com/decision/19821677543FSupp1134_11501.xml/UNIVERSAL%20CITY%20STUDIOS%20v.%20FILM%20VENTURES%20INTERN.

As a huge fan of Great White/The Last Shark, it was pretty cool to skim through this and see the full details and conditions of the Universal vs. FVI/Last Shark Limited suit.

The film came up in a discussion on a Facebook group I frequent. Someone brought up an interesting point: is there a transfer of the American "Great White" print of the film, bootleg or otherwise? The final stipulation of the lawsuit is as follows:

"18. Defendants Film Ventures and Last Shark Limited should be required forthwith to deliver to the Clerk of this Court to be impounded during the pendency of this action all prints and negatives of "Great White", or any version thereof. 17 U.S.C. ยง 503(a)."

So, presumably, FVI had to hand over any and all prints of their "Great White" cut of the film, which were probably either destroyed or are sitting in a Universal vault. So, it seems that the only way you would see that "GREAT WHITE" title card is if you caught it in theaters back in the early 80's, or some projectionist/theater owner telesynched it, which is unlikely. I personally have never seen or heard of any transferred version of the Great White print and I probably never will. This very well may be a "lost" version of the film, gone forever and never to be seen again.

Question: is there also a stipulation that Universal could use element of Great White/L'Ultimo Squalo in any subsequent Jaws pictures they made? I once heard it explained that's why the shark in Jaws 3 dies in almost exactly the same fashion as the one in this picture, because Universal were granted the legal right to use whatever they wanted (even though the plot device in question was in fact lifted from a movie called Up From The Depths, hence Universal effectively ripped off that movie).
