Why doesn't this show up on cable?

TMC ran this film several years ago, but outside of that showing, I never see this movie on cable...with all the cable channels out there, you would think it would show up someplace. I watched it on Amazon Prime...unfortunately the quality of the film was a bit poor. It looked as if it was playing off an old slightly grainy VHS tape. I wonder if this is what you get if you order the DVD from Amazon? I love this movie and I wish it ran more and was out there for a new audience to discover it.

This is the only the second time TCM has shown it. I take a bit of pride about the first time they showed it.

Four years ago, they picked 15 fan programmers to each pick a movie they wanted to introduce with Robert Osborne for the station's 15th anniversary. I was one of the fifteen. There were several films I thought about but this was one of my favorites, so I decided to go with it. When I was out in Atlanta for the taping of the intro and the outgo, no one I spoke with had ever heard about the film (it is was pretty obscure)...but when I stepped on the TCM set to do my filming with Robert O., he said he was glad I picked it because it is such a delightful film. I had been nervous going out there, because I was going to be seen by millions of people, introducing a film with Robert Osborne...a dream come true. But as soon as he said that, he made me feel at ease right away.

what a great story. did they do a contest and you won, or how did you get chosen to be one of the fifteen?

Thanks for telling about that experience, and for picking that movie, which I've loved since seeing it in its original theatrical run (thought about it tonight, because of seeing a gorgeous, big, local semi-staged concert production of DESERT SONG--35 professional musicians in the pit!). Your TCM adventure would have been a dream come true for me too, as I love Robert Osborne and all the great interviews and information he shares. I miss TCM, since cancelling cable 2 or 3 years ago, and only get to see it now and then. Glad it was a good time for you.

Multiplex: 100+ shows a day, NONE worth watching. John Sayles' latest: NO distribution. SAD.

It's on TCM again this Friday.
