Is it good and scary?

Not really scary (at least not to me), but still a good horror film, and highly underrated. Id recommend it definitely.

I find it to be a pretty enjoyable early 80's slasher. Definitely one of the better ones, that's for sure. Aside from a few relatively disturbing scenes, it's really not that scary though.

Not scary.. and not really good either. It has a good setting and nice atmosphere, and I also liked the concept of the killer stealing people's costumes. That said, the characters ruin it. They're all a bunch of unlikeable *beep* that you want to see die horribly, JLC included

This film is very good. It has a great setting, menacing killer, good chase scene, nice reveal, likable characters, and JLC. It's not very scary but it is suspenseful

its really scary

This is definitely one of the better slasher films made at the height of the early 1980's slice'n'dice craze. It benefits a great deal from its claustrophobic train setting, Jamie Lee Curtis makes for a personable lead, and the shots of the bleak wintry Canadian landscape are genuinely eerie.
