Crew

I was part of the crew for this film, I was the sound mixer.
I'm not surprised that so few people are discussing this obscure film. But as forgettable and even silly as it might be I'm still proud of the film and my work on it.
At the time of the filming I was only 22 years old. I basically worked for free and did it only for the experience that later turned out to be of no use as I didn't persue a career in sound.
If anyone has any questions regarding the film or the making of the film I'd be glad to field questions.

Anja was beautiful of course.
She was quiet and very polite. She always kept her head down and had a hard time looking a person in their eye. Especially one on one conversations with adults or older people. I later found out she was terminally shy. That and the fact that she was brought up to act a different way around adults. It was respectful in her mind.
But many times I was able to see what I would call the REAL Anja when I would see her interact with the younger people. When she would play with Thierry and Val she was a very different person. A lot of fun and more relaxed with the kids.
She was a very sweet girl.

Anja's background was that of a naturist (I believe) which is where David found most of the subjects for his photography and films. So she wasn't exactly shy about nude scenes. At least I didn't notice a difference in shyness. She never seemed to show any anxiety about it.
She was most nervous and shy about a kissing scene with Thierry Tevini than anything else I can remember. That scene went on for many many takes because of nervous laughter from both of them.

Were you in contact with David Hamilton at all? A lot is said about him and there remains a lot of ambiguity as to whether he was a purveyor of beauty or a dodgy old geezer who was awful at films. He's been basically ostracised in his native Britain and his work is nowhere to be found. I havent seen his films but from what I gather they are generally heavily derided.

"Its too bad she wont live... but then again who does?"

Of course I was in contact with David Hamilton. He was the director and I was on set with him everyday. I had nothing to do with post production of the film but we spent nearly a month working together.

Purveyor of beauty - Without a doubt. Who could deny that? David had an eye for beauty. I remember David pointed out a young woman in a pub one night. He said she was beautiful. The girl looked to me to be less than beautiful. She had bad hair that hung in her face. Her eyes were blackened by too much makeup, and she had the posture of a hunchback. David saw something very different. He appraoched her and they talked. Almost two years later David had a gathering at his home and he showed me some photos. He asked me what I thought of the woman in the photos. I told him she was gorgeous, she WAS without a doubt. He revealed that this was the same woman from the pub that night.
David saw beauty.

Dodgy old geezer - No. Although I suppose he could be considered an old geezer now, as he's not a young man. By "dodgy" I assume you mean perverted? David had nothing but respect for the models he photographed. He saw beauty in the nude female body. That beauty and respect are reflected in his photographs which, could never be mistaken for pornography.

Awful films - During the filming of Tendres Cousines David said (I'm paraphrasing) "I'm a photographer. Filmmaking is simply an extension of that. A moving photograph" He was proud of his films
Around 1989, the last time I saw or spoke to David he had a very different attitude. He told me "My films should only be viewed one way.... with the sound turned off." His films, the images themselves were true to his photographic style, but the stories or lack thereof and silly dialog were somewhat embarassing to him.

I'm embarassed by the way Britain has treated David. And I'm quite surprised by the uptight attitude toward his work. I expect it from the US but not from Britain. Even after all these years, after all the hysteria, and now that David has been regarded as one of the greatest photographers in the world, their views of him still remain unchanged.

Thank you for coming here and answering questions.

How was the underage nudity handled?
Thierry Tevini seemed especially young for such mature scenes, some of which involved him in compromising positions with nude woman. With Thierry himself practically nude.
Anja Schüte was also underage I believe. I would think an adult simulating sex with a minor would be one touchy issue but two minors in the same situation is something entirely different.
How was this handled on set and what were the reprecussions if any?

Was there a naked pie fight at the end of this movie?
