The Mob and the Guillotine

I remember watching this on TV as a kid and never forgot it, especially the scene where the Mob storms Versailles and start punching and pushing around all these nicely dressed and dignified nobles. The ending was especially moving for me when Sydney comforts a woman on the way to the guillotine and when it's her turn to go up, she turns and smiles at him. This mini-series is one of the reasons why I got so interested in history in the first place.

It's intriguing looking at different times and looking at their struggles during those eras.

It's a cracking good story, alright. There are other good versions on DVD too. Have you watched the 1989 miniseries? I like that one even better than this version.

I haven't seen that newer version yet, but would like to sometime. I've always been interested in French Revolution movies. I didn't care much for the "Marie Antoinette" movie that came out a few years ago. It just focused on her pampered life in Versailles and didn't cover anything about the torment she went through during the French Revolution.
