Plot hole.... the superpowers

if Supe's ability stemmed from the fact that the atmosphere on earth was different than his home planet, and likewise for the 3 bad guys.... then wouldn't it be when they fight, it would just like a normal fight between normal humans?

Whatever degree that Supe is stronger on earth, they have it too, and hence Supe punching Zod, Zod's face would absorb the punch with the same proportion of ability as the strength they gained on earth.... Hence... he wouldn't go flying 500 feet... he would take it just like a normal punch.

Really none of them should be stronger than Superman since he'd been there since he was a kid and they had only been on earth a few days.

Green Goblin is great! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1L4ZuaVvaw

"Who should have been stronger"?

This is what you guys are complaining about?

What about the...

Finger Levitation Beams (Used to lift humans of the ground)...
Kryptonian Teleportation/Hologram Powers (seen in the Fortress)...
Superman Shield PlasticWrap (Used to briefly subdue Non in the Fortress)...

Huh???

And Superman's Telekinesis Vision Power (used to fix the Great Wall of China in Superman IV)...

I really could have done without that crazy power stuff.

I am also still trying to understand why Richard Lester thought Superman's clothes would "change" when he was depowered... AND... Why didn't that happen to ZOD, URSA, and NON too...

Superman requested to be changed into a human, so they rebuilt him as a human including the clothes. With the other three, Superman didn't make them human. He just hit them with rays that took away their powers. Think of it as Superman going through three steps while the other three went through one. However, that one was enough to kill them.

You're actually thinking in Post-CoIE terms (understandable since THAT was 30 years ago) where Kryptonians absorb sunlight and gain their abilities over time. Pre-Crisis was different. Superman was fully powered almost immediately (as shown by Superboy and, most telling....Superbaby. No, I am NOT making this up). Kara crash lands on Earth and is fully powered within moments. It was just a thing with that time.

So how long they were on Earth would not be an issue. What WOULD be an issue (I would think) is their comparable ages and sizes. Zod was older and Non was just HUGE. Non should have been comparatively stronger than Superman by a LOT. Ursa seemed better combat trained, so SHE should've been able to kill Superman more easily.
