what goes through Ursa mind with the astronaut

I always wondered about this scene why she did what she did, was it because he was a man? did she always want to kill him because he is a man? or at the time did she not know her strength and was surprised? she did say she tore them like paper later on. what would have happened if this wasn't out of space and she tore is badge off?

Here is my take on whats going on in her head.

when he says 'a man' straight away her eyes light up she hates men she collects badges from men (weather or not she was always gonna kill him from this moment on is debatable)

He then tries to run away this makes her more angry no man gets away from her.

she rips off his badge for her collection, in her head she is thinking wow that was like paper so easy why is he on the ground trying to breathe? what did I do?

Out of punishment for trying to run from her she decides to kick him right in his manhood she hates men and knows the place where it hurts them most so boots him there to give him maximum pain and to her it felt like kicking a soccer ball, so she watches him fly away into nothing realizing how strong she is now with new powers.

do you think if he didn't try and run away he would not have got that kick? in the original script, it just says he blows up guess they thought that was to hard to do back in 1980 for a PG movie. was the kick punishment for running away?

What do you think would have happened if this was on earth? she tore one of the sheriffs badges but never gave him further punishment. at least she put the poor Astrauant out of his misery fast or maybe she thought he was gonna blow up in front of her

I think there's a few things going through her mind. One is Zod sent her out first, kind of a recon mission. She had no idea what she was facing, but she was forceful. I think she always intended to kill, but she saw the badge and wanted to indulge herself first. But when he tries to run away she is clearly angered. She clearly is amused that's he is a man and when she takes the badge she lets him know it. I don't know if she knew he'd go flying off, so the kick was definitely anti-man and to punish him for not letting her take the badge.

I've always interpreted this scene differently. When he says he is a man I've always assumed he meant the definition of man as human, regardless of gender, not the human male definition. Her eyes light up because she realises she is encountering a human for the first time.

It's clear Johnny likes it in the out box.
