Kiss the baby?

I've done alot of research and have never been able to find the meaning to this analogy....anyone got any ideas?

Although the jail scene was funny, I too never got the "Kiss The Baby" phrase. I also don't get what Harry (Richard Pryor) said, "Oh damn it back to old Virginia, lord." it was funny, but what happened in Old Virginia? lol

Kiss The Baby. It means it's over, the end. Think about perhaps when men go off to war and the families there and the man kisses the baby before they go just in case they don't see them again, etc.

Don't know about the Virginia one.

^^that sounds right.

He says "Take me back to Old Virginia, Lord" I thought maybe it was a hymn or an old song.

A phrase made popular by NFL WR Chad OchoCinco, Kiss the Baby is commonly used in competition to symbolize the point of no return, or "the end" for the opposing team.
The San Diego Defense might as well Kiss the Baby because we've already won.
