Has Anyone Ever Felt A Strong Crush On Someone From The Far Past??

You know, in those old B&W photographs and early B&W movies from the 1800s and the early part of the 20th Century, you see people. Anyone felt a strong attraction or crush to any of them even though they might be extremely old or long gone now? I did. I was deeply attracted to Johnny Weissmuller during the times he starred in the "Tarzan" movies from the 1930s. He and his chest were HOT:

I was smitten with the great Japanese actress Setsuko Hara the first time I saw her in the movie. I sort of connect my celebrity crush on her to this movie. She's still alive (94 years old) but she retired in the 60s, is mostly known for her black-and-white movies, and just like Elise in "Somewhere in Time," she was this great actress who charmed millions and never married.

I studied Romanovs since I was 11 and have many photographs of them. In my opinion, Maria was most beautiful of the sisters (Tatiana was very close).

I agree Bobcat. But I think Burt was sexier in his 1940's movies. And Buster Crabbe. Wowzer! He was hot! Clark Gable in Gone with the Wind too.

I have two very strong crushes of two women from the past. One of them is Anna Roosevelt Longworth who is President Teddy Roosevelt's oldest daughter, I am a huge history buff and studied the Roosevelt Family. Anna Roosevelt Longworth is very beautiful.

The other person is actress Olivia de Havilland, she's still alive and is 99 years old. But ever since watching The Adventures of Robin Hood with her Errol Flynn I became a fan of hers and I feel she is one the most beautiful women if you see any of her films and look at her pictures from the 30's and 40's you will agree.

hmm, I can't say that I have had crushes, but I suppose I would be curious. I mentioned in another thread that I have reproductions of "Lady Agnew" by Singer Sargent, Ingrid Bergman, Rita Heyworth, and now that I think of it, a photo of Dolores Costello that I found at some vintage fair. I would say that it would be interesting if I could have seen them in real life, in some way or another, although probably not a romantic crush.

Yes. Ginger Rogers.

She died almost 21 years ago (1995) at the age of 83. (She was born in 1911.)

Oddly, when she died, I was 20 years old, but I didn't know anything at all about her at the time... Except for maybe the possibility of having heard her name before or that she was associated with several of those Fred Astaire (musical) films. But I don't recall having seen any of her films before then, and had no interest up through that time to do so. (I was not a big fan of musicals.)

About six months ago (2015), I purchased one of those "50 Classic Horror Movies" DVD sets. I wanted to see "Phantom Of The Opera". Another one of the included movies was "A Shriek In The Night" (1933). I saw that it starred "Ginger Rogers", and recognized her name (only). I thought I would give the movie a look. While watching the film, I realized how TALENTED & BEAUTIFUL this Lady was. When the movie was over... I had this urge to learn about her life & career...

After seeing some more of her movies, she became my favorite actress (and dancer). She was also an amazing singer! But after learning about her personal life as well, I realized I have a crush on the woman too... AND... I just keep wanting to learn and see more and more of her.

If I knew of a way to "Come Back To Her", I believe that I would make the attempt to go back and try to meet her. It's probably just as well that I can't, since I would probably just end up destroying all of Time & Space if I did. (I would not just go back for an AutoGraph!)

She held her youthful beauty well into her late 60s and early 70s, so it's very hard to find any pictures of her, except perhaps in her last few years, where she wasn't extremely attractive... However, in my opinion, she had the most expressive & beautiful sparkling blue eyes that I have ever seen. I have trouble taking my eyes off of her eyes when I see her movies or any pictures of her, even in her final years.

And As I noted, I love hearing her sing...anything... But... When I hear sing her 1978 recording of "Embraceable You": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQZTU8d2EBA... I do long for that time machine, so that I could be there with her.
