Collier and McKenna in 1972

When Collier turns to see Mckeena he is notably in shock was this only because he was surprised to see an older women or did he immediately sense that was in fact his true love?

When she came up to him, the whole room had gone quiet.. Then he saw it was because of McKenna, Who was probably the oldest person in the room, and he was not expecting that. She may have also been looking at him "Strangely" too.

There was no indication in the movie that Collier sensed a connection to McKenna in 1972.

I didn't think so either. However, when I think about it now, he did seem to be sort of mesmerized by her. Maybe he felt something, some kind of connection. We know she certainly did.

"How was the war, sir?"
"As any war, ma'am, a waste of good men." (Poldark)

I think it was just an odd event. He's this college student and here's this old lady who he's never met coming up and saying "return to me" and giving him a watch. I don't think he's supposed to have any idea who Elise is before that night.

Unless Alpert's covered in bacon grease, I don't think Hugo can track anything.
