Tarantino to direct Shogun Assassin Remake!!!

Well you heard here first. It's a hollywood rumor though. Coming from inside sources...I think it would be awesome. Just think of all the blood squirting everywhere right?

Question is who will play lonewolf and will cub be alive? I heard that cub actually might die in the beginning which would possibly make this movie a bit of a revenge type of movie with body parts flying all over the place. As for lonewolf..I have no idea who would play him?

What do you think?

Tarantino usually just uses films like SA as influences for his own, I can't see why he'd do a remake. Not complaining if it happens, though.

reply

It would be very strange to make a remake of edited and dubbed version of two movies.

yeah, I agree with the pp. I really can't see Tarantino doing a remake of anything.

He did a remake of City On Fire.

He did not do a remake of anything. I admit that I am a fanboy :(

No one should ever remake this classic, but if anyone HAD to remake it, QT would be the man (for obvious reasons).

I highly doubt Kazuo Koike would let him, unless he would do a movie based on the original Lone Wolf & Cub story.

I hope to hell he doesn't. The Kill Bill films are only watchable so that you can smile and giggle to yourselves while you remember which films each part of a scene is "paying homage" to. The problem I have with QT is not his writing style, which is quite unique, but the sheer amount of "homage" in his films. City on fire, Full Contact, the white haired bride, game of death, seven deadly venoms, virtually every shaw brother's movie (too many other's to mention here)- which for those who have never seen them opens them up to a whole world of movies they were previously unaware of. Great. But this could be replaced by the first 15 mins of adverts from any martial arts film - i.e. kill bill is one big advertisement for other directors work. I can't see QT and the Babycart Series working well - especially if he insisted on putting Uma Thurman and Samuel L Jackson in it.

I never understood why my friend would tell me Tarantino was a hack...Then I found out the suitcase in pulp fiction was basically ripped off from kiss me deadly.

It still didn't convince me of tarantino's hack creditials, but certainly gave my friend's opinion a little more validity.

I could see him pull it off.
