A better horror movie since this?

Has there been a better horror movie since the Shining? One could argue greater ones before The Shining such as Psycho, Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Halloween, and the classic monster movies, but I can’t think of a better horror movie since The Shining.

ALL OF THEM. NOEMOJI

Well I prefer The Silence of the Lambs and Se7en if you can class them as horrors, and many do. The Thing is equally good IMO. No question for me though that the mid-70's to mid-80's was a golden age for the horror genre. Many of the best horrors fall in this era.

I've missed so many Halloween. I feel like I'm making up for lost time. It just didn't seem fair.

To me, no. But the few that I really love are The Sixth Sense, Stir of Echoes, The Ring and Insidious. But none have come as close in my opinion. The Shining and The Exorcist are my top 2 films of all-time (tied for first place). And The Shining is my favorite book as well.

I would say The Thing (1982) is the best answer.

Mulholland Drive is a masterpiece. I consider it psychological horror. It’s up there with Shining!

That would be a fine choice also.

I would have to agree.

The Entity, based on a true story.

Yes!!!! The Entity! 1982. I saw it in the big screen in 82 at 16 years old. The stupidest thing Ive done is watch this flick alone, at night, with no one in the house.

I am not saying it is better, but The Conjuring not only takes place in the 1960s, it definitely had an old-school horror vibe. It reminded of being a kid in the 1960s watching 1950s/60s horror flicks.

The Blair Witch Project

I’ll have to watch that again. I have the DVD, but haven’t watched it since the day it came out.
