If this movie were made in modern times (at least within the last 10 years) I feel like Leonardo DiCaprio would play Jack pretty well. Something about Jack Nicholson in this movie reminds me of DiCaprio, and I feel as though audiences saw Jack Nicholson similarly to how modern audiences view Leonardo DiCaprio.

That being said, Stanley Kubrick's version of The Shining is unbeatable, in my opinion, so it probably shouldn't be remade and studios should focus on new things.
Oh yes, nothing can top this film, especially in complexity and deep levels and meanings. Every time I watch it I discover something new.

Leo could absolutely do Jack Torrance, and honestly, I think he'd do a better job that Nicholson because DiCaprio would be more sympathizable.

Except for Django I don't think DiCaprio has really leaned into villainous roles. I think he'd do well at them.
Let's hope not. Some movies are iconic because no sequel or remake was ever made. (E.T. and Forrest Gump come to mind). the shining is one of them. But I could see Leo doing it. He's a superb actor.
shareI don't think Leo can do "unhinged" well enough to play the part. It would have to be a lot different than Jack. A lot different. In which case you may as well make an entirely different movie
