Why is there an alien in the movie poster?

There’s literally nothing in this movie that comes close to looking like a potential alien or alien activity. Would have been a cool theme to explore though!

I've always thought it kind of looked like a monkey.

Now I think it's a just a poorly drawn picture of Danny?

I don't know

reply

It’s definitely not Danny. There’s no hair on it! It looks like a grey alieN!

reply

I'll admit idk either..

It's from a deleted sequence. Kubrick put off including it because he didn't think effects were advanced enough to do his vision of the aliens justice, then he ended up dying before he could redo it when CGI came along.

reply

Seriously?

reply

NO

reply

I think he's joking.

reply

It's supposed to be a terrified Danny, as in the sequence when he is silently screaming.

I think the poster was ripped off from/inspired by the poster for the early 70s horror film, "The Other".

i dont think its supposed to be Danny...its supposed to be an alien or something.

reply

why the fuck would it be an alien??? how many aliens did you see in the shining?? i saw ZERO, you moron

reply

Because Kubrick likes to fuck with audiences

reply

so you think he just slapped an alien on the cover? it is clearly not an alien either way. looks nothing like an alien. looks like a bald kid.

reply

No but I know he likes to add subtle hints about the moon landing in this movie so aliens make sense

reply

That's just an Asian guy.

reply

its an alien

This is what the Star Child looked like after being gang-raped by Alex and his droogs. Everyone's a Star Child until they get mugged.

reply

An alien??? Where?
That's the boy's face framed by the letters.
