Supplies for the time there


I remember when they were being told about all the food that would be left there.

But what about something like milk - something a child Danny's age would need? There's no way to keep gallons of milk from going bad that long. Same for vegetables. Unless the "high end" hotel served the guests canned veggies?

Also, what if one had a medical emergency? Setting aside Jack going crazy (or however you want to explain it) what if someone got really sick? No meds, what were they supposed to do?

FYI you can freeze milk. And vegetables. Humans can live for a whole winter without fresh produce, and have done so throughout history in climates with a short growing season.

As for emergencies, I assume they had a working telephone, and could call 911 if there was a medical emergency or a fire, and that the local police fire and ambulance knew how to get help to the snowbound. Didn't Jack cut the phone lines when he went off his gourd?
