You know the The Shining is a great film when....

You own it on blu ray and watch it at least once every 2 weeks but you still will watch it every time its on tv when you see it on the guide flipping through channels. You simply cannot get enough of this film if you are able to see it for what it truly is, if you are a surface viewer when it comes to movies you probably won't get it but when you peel back the layers its infinitely rewarding and no amount of viewings is enough to satisfy your curiosity. Thank you Stanley Kubrick.

Very good points. Let me add....look at the amount of action on this board. For a movie that is 35 years old, this movie still has a lot of discussion going on. It definitely has withstood the test of time.

Definitely watching it at Halloween this year.

Hell dude, I watch "Twister" sometimes, just to get a glimpse of "The Shining" being projected on a drive-in movie screen. And also on a tornado.

haha that might be the best post Ive ever seen, I always remember that as the coolest part of twister myself.

LOL, yes! "Twister" does so many things wrong but that scene isn't one of them :-)

BTW, Slaterson14, are you aware that your avatar has a The Shining connection?
The pic is a still shot of Eli Wallach in the role of Tuco from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, is it not?
Did you know that his wife, Anne Jackson, played the Doctor in the The Shining, or did you "overlook" that bit of trivia? 

... there has been technological advancement, but how little man himself has changed.
