Where's the maze?

Let me start by saying I love this movie and have seen it probably fifty times. One issue I've always had is the disappearing hedge maze. At the very beginning of the movie, just prior to the "Interview" title card, we see an extremely wide aerial shot of the Overlook Hotel. However, there is no hedge maze anywhere to be seen. The hedge maze only appears later, when Bill, Wendy and Danny arrive at the hotel later. Perhaps the maze itself is a collective delusion of the Torrance family. How do you guys explain this?
