DANNY is ALEX from a clockwork orange.

Here is my theory.

1. This movie is set in the modern day 80s. A clock work orange takes place in a distant future...

2. The hair styles are the same on Danny and Alwx

3. It makes sense as to why Alex is messed up. He harnessed a power of talking to the paranormal and His father turned evil and tried to kill him, his mother grew older and married another man.

4. Also, with his dad acting kind of psycho, they could have been genetic to Alex.

No but there is a thematic link between most of Kubrick's leads, in terms of youth Alex, Danny, Barry and Joker (and Lolita) all have similarities and qualities that are consistent throughout Kubrick's films, youthful repression being a key theme. They are unusually perceptive, highly intelligent characters in often cruel settings.

Remember, this is just "Loon Talk" so tread carefully!! However, as a fellow Loon, they are a part of the Kubrick Evolution. No doubt about it.

Actually, Danny isn't Danny at all. That's a life-size dummy that Wendy is holding when calling Jack a "son of a bitch." After Danny's 237 excursion. Kubrick didn't want Danny Lloyd exposed to any violence or questionable language.

Also plays into the "Doll Motif" throughout the film. Wendy in Dannys room, Halloran on the spot he ends up dead, Jack not far away...

Danny is of a more "Meta" Level. He became an ACTUAL Doll. Even with Spoken Lines, a Blank Stare and the ability to he "Turned On" by certain acts... And of course, within the scene you mentioned. Kubrick was very good to Danny. He seemed to have a certain fondness for innocence, so to say.
