kinda a false title if you ask me

is it just me, or are the others out there that felt this movie was badly named, I didnt see one perosn get killed in it, just a whole lotta asskickings, good to see Gordon lui doing what he does best, and what was with the idiot with those freaky looking teeth? they didnt even look like decent false teeth

The film is named OK. He learns Kung Fu in the 36th chamber and he returns there for the final battle.

He was holding back- if he used all of his strength, he would have killed them!

First of all, "Master Killer" is a stupid American title and should not be used...although it's still rather misleading since our hero never even actually trains in the Shaolin chambers.

And Gordon Liu doesn't even play the same character anymore.

no doubt Taketsuo...

Also, I always assumed that this was a sequel of sorts to "The 36th Chamber of Shaolin". In that film, Gordon Liu's character sets up a new, 36th, chamber of Shaolin for the purpose of teaching kung fu to the common people. In "Return to the 36th Chamber", Gordon plays a different character, a commoner, who is permitted to learn the Shaolin arts.

Of course, tons is lost in translation with these films, so who knows?

It's fair enough to call it Return to the 36th Chamber. The character Gordon Liu played in the original (San Te) is in it, but is played by a different guy - although Gordon's character does pretend to be him in the first part of the film, which is funny. They manage to go through all the training sequences again and keep it fresh by having Gordon Liu's character watch and learn in an unorthodox way. And the final 15 minute action sequence is my favourite ever. Plus, the music is cool.

Whilst films like 36th Chamber of Shaolin and Eight Diagram Pole Fighter are more serious, this is the perfect balance of comedy, training sequences and inventive fight scenes, and Gordon Liu's performance is just great.

I used to watch these old Kung Fu movies non-stop when I was young. This was always the one I enjoyed the most.

You're right. Everytime those teeth show up, I don't care what the hell anyone says. It's friggin awesome!!!!

That guy works his butt off at that dye mill, let him eat rice with those teeth!

PS. This movie should only be watched dubbed. If you're watching it subtitled, I feel sorry for you, the voices are hilarious! And the music rocks too!
