Why did Charles Grodin get a Razzie nom for this?

I didn't think he was bad at all. His deadpan delivery and uptight energy worked very well I thought. What do you guys think?

Could you post a link to your source?

yeah he got nommed which seems silly since he was at his deadpan best in this, I guess they had a tough time filling the bill (shelley duvall got a nom for the shinging the same year)

There's a source on the IMDB page for this film (sigh). But yes, he was incredibly funny in this film. Every bit as he was in Heaven Can Wait, Midnight Run, and on Carson.

Agree, he was at his deadpan finest....also include the movie Dave!

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

reply

He WAS funny in DAVE.
(In a hush) - "This entire place is probably BUGGED!" - Grodin in DAVE - HaHa! He's so Paranoid!

reply

He's naturally annoying, but performs well enough here. Of course, in the same year both Stanley Kubrick & Brian De Palma also scored a nom... for The Shining and Dressed To Kill, respectively, both of which happen to be some of the best shot films in history, so Grodin's certainly in good company there.

I didn't think he was bad. The character of Myron is not a very likable character but he played it well

The Razzie people must have a grudge against Grodin or something. I wouldn't be surprised if he's been nominated by them a few other times.
