Trashy...even 'Scarlett' the sequel is better

This was a trashy sexed up 1980's TV soap opera and it was so far from what really happened when they were looking to cast Scarlett. This is just awful! No producers or production staff ever slept with the girls who wanted to be Scarlett....all the portrayals of the actresses who wanted the role of Scarlett is inaccurate.

Paulette Goddard or Joan Crawford might have gotten the part if Vivien Leigh had not come along. Both were on top of the list and did very well....the portrayals of Myron Selznick, etc...are all wrong

Ummm, were you there or something? You can't believe only what the records say. I'm not saying that it did occur, but it's really naive to even exclude the possibility.

NOOoo...I don't have to be there to know that such ridiculous and absurd scenarios as the ones in Scarlett O'Hara Wars happened. They did not. What need did these big stars have to even sleep with some Hollywood type to get a part ? Joan Crawford was a big star. If she wanted the part and didn't get it, it didn't matter to her. She was no less a star. Paulette Goddard was a good actress and would have gotten the part if Vivien Leigh had not been cast. By all accounts, Selznick was ready to cast her and did the most number of test scenes with her. Goddard memorized not only Scarlett's lines but other characters as well. Goddard did not need to sleep with anyone. She was not a starlet. It's as crazy as thinking the same happend with Bette Davis or Tallulah Bankhead - two major stars one of them already an Oscar winner (Davis).

If there was indeed any "sleep with this guy and you might get the part" things going on it might have happened with the dozens of dozens of non-actress girls from the South who wanted to be Scarlett. Selznick sent men to find an authentic Southern girl to play Scarlett. Unfortunately some of them were even beneath the status of starlet. They were girls who had no acting talent or training whatsoever. Perhaps these poor girls were fooled into thinking they coul get the part. But I really find that hard to believe. If anything they had their photographs taken and were fed a bunch of false promises. It was a way for Hollywood to make money off aspiring actresses.

But there is no truth whatsoever in the BIGGER STARS wanting the part so bad that they slept with some guy in production of the film.....

You have GOT to be kidding. You don't think that sex is used as a weapon or as a persuasion tool no matter what level you're playing at? The most sought-after role in movie history...maybe in the history of performing arts...and you don't think that this kind of thing went on (and still goes on)?

Joan Crawford was a big star. If she wanted the part and didn't get it, it didn't matter to her. She was no less a star.
Every female star wanted this role. Crawford wanted it and you can't tell me that she wasn't upset at not getting THE role of roles?

Clearly the OP has never heard of the infamous "casting couch" in Hollywood. It has existed since film began and exists today.
