"Depression Horror"


From my observances, David Cronenberg invented this sug-genre. Every Cronenberg movie I watched (Rabid, The Fly, The Dead Zone, Scanners, etc.) had tragedy involved with them and you really feel for the those caught in the middle.
Just incredible that Cronenberg was able to invent this style and so effectively.

The sounds we hear as the agent is forced to shoot himself just after the head exploding and burning car scenes made me think "someone here understands depression."
