the new cover art SUCKS!

The DVD cover art looks like some crappy Van Halen record cover. Why they didn't just use the original "Roadie" poster art for the DVD case is beyond me. This is one of the best rock'n'roll movies ever and we were TOTALLY excited to finally get it on DVD, but the cover art sucks! It has nothing at all to do with the movie!

You are soooo right! I had to do a double take and check the credits and stuff to make sure it was the movie that I was after. It is about time that it came out on dvd, now if they would re-release the soundtrack on cd, I would be a very happy camper!

Just bought the dvd today. One of the few times that I would have paid more for the disc I bought. Great music, a total 70s trippy atmosphere. Meatloaf, Blondie, the Blues brothers cameo, Alice freakin Cooper (!) and I can't understand why this film isn't considered a cult classic.

On the subject matter now, (had to let the rant out first) I agree that the dvd cover art is not really about the film. Do you guys have any idea where I can check out the original cover art? The only thing that drew me to this was the title, as i knew ML had done a 'Roadie' movie. I mean, If they wanted cleavage, could have gotten cleavage that actually meshed with the movie...

Since the movie never became the "cult classic" that it deserves to be, it seems that they're trying to sell it as a cheasy T&A flick. If there were any T&A that might be okay (if I didn't know better, I'd think that the box was promoting "The Cheerleaders" or other such trash)... With MeatLoaf, Blondie, Alice Cooper, Art Carney, Hank Williams Jr, Roy Orbison, etc. you'd think that they could have come up with something better than that sh!tty cover!

I completely agree! i just purchased this movie today lol..i had to order it special...it was great...but jeez whats wih the cover? it looks like a dallas cowboys cheerleader video or sumthin...the original cover art is way better its got great characteurs of most of the people in the movie...it looks like the cover of Animal House or American Graffiti it was great...to find it u can just type in Roadie on google and it normal pops up normally about halfway down the page...good movie..poopy cover..p.s. Meat Loaf is GOD!

I could not agree more about the cover art. I didn't even know this movie was on DVD until I saw a used copy at my local store about 15 minutes ago. Suffice it to say it's now in my possession, but I was kind of embarrassed to take this to the checkout.

The T&A angle is totally unnecessary -- and misleading. It reminds me of the cover to "Festival Express," with a little more cleavage:

Regardless, I'm glad to have a copy on DVD. I've had the soundtrack for years, and I've rented the VHS a few times. This isn't a great film, but it has some terrific performances from a better era in rock 'n' roll than today's.

I wish there was some TnA in this film. It would partially redeem this piece of crap. I can't believe anyone would want to own this dreck.

I do have a lot of respect for a lot of the musicians in this film but the acting and dialogue...? Bleeeech!

No. That art also just has the logo, a Shiner beer bottle and some wires. The main poster art, which was used on the original video releases, is a caricature of Meat Loaf and some of the cast.

The logo from the LP also appeared on the press kit (sans beer bottle and wires):

thanks for the pics, Vinnie!
for me, this is one of those movies I heard about for the longest time, but never came across. and I'm a BIG Meat Loaf fan (I can even spell all his names correctly!)

that, and a certain term used just rang a bell with me, as if you couldn't guess! ;)

It would be nice to just find a copy of the original artwork on-line so it could be printed out and inserted over the T&A cover. The only one who appeared to have gazongas in this flick is Meatloaf.

I AM thrilled to finally get a copy of it, even though it doesn't have a label on the DVD or the original art work. Yeah, it's a hokey movie -- but it sure was fun to see Alice and Blondie when they were much younger.

It's not the greatest resolution, but here's a better copy of the VHS cover than I've seen anywhere else:

The easiest way to see the orginal poster/cover art is to double click on the new cover art picture in the upper left corner of this, the title, page. TRY IT!

The DVD art work often sucks compared to the VHS. I think today's video company's believe that people are more likely to rent/buy something if it's looks substantially less appealing.

Thankfully, Shout Factory reinstated the original poster art for the Blu-Ray release. For their horror movies, Shout Factory tends to do reversible covers, so it's kind of a shame that they didn't do one for this film utilizing the tacky Spanish art, which features the characters riding on a phallic guitar-mobile:

Regardless that this version wasn't used, Shout's cover is a ginormous upgrade from MGM's horrible T&A-flick DVD cover.

I kinda like the 'phallic guitar-mobile' poster in all honestly.

never thought i'd say no to cleavage but it is like a baseball team font. kaki, ginger and cindy are lovely but are molehills to these mountains.(*)(*).can we find the busty blonde bimbo who modelled for the updated, worsened poster?

I totally agree with you on this. It would be one thing if it was a shot from the movie but it has nothing to do with the movie. I just wish the soundtrack was on cd.
