Please see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revenge_of_the_Stepford_Wives. If you can't access this, here's the shortened version: the bad guy gets stomped on to death and torn apart by the women.

I remember the above scene, and how violent I thought it was for 1980 -- but how happy I was that the women got their revenge.

I think the ending kind of ruined the rest of the movie. It was almost like the writers didn't know how else to end the movie so they just threw something together. Not that I have anything against revenge, but it was really kind of lame. Also, Sharon Gless and Julie Kavner turned into real dummies at the end when they 1) Left the bad guy alone for so long, and 2) They trusted Don Johnson when he was no better than any of the other husbands!

Also, I didn't like that they changed the way the Stepford Wives are made from the original 1975 film. I realize that the story would be drastically different if they followed the outline of the original (where the real wives were murdered and replaced with robots). Oh well, Revenge of the Stepford Wives was a fun little movie regardless of its problems.

I agree with you!!! I dont get why would the men change the method of killing the original person and replacing them with robots for drugging them. The robots were "perfected" (for the men) versions of their wives and they would never grow old. They could have made a revenge story while being faithful to the original plot.

Doesn't that tell you something, Castle> The robots would never grow old? That could give away the secret of their little paradise.

In any event, they changed things in the new one to make it truly a dark comedy, a lightet story then the original. This way the female characters survive (all of them) and the husbands aren't as evil. If they were, their punishment would have to be harsher in the end (there's no way the wives would punish them simply by making them be "Stepford" men).

That makes sense, sooner or later a reporter would notice how women never aged. SO, I guess protecting their (the mens) secret is what saved the women, being drugged can be fixed than being killed and replaced by a robot.

they were replaced with robots in the original,. don 't see why they couldn't add a few tweaks to age them a little once in a while, but still have them look good

reply

True! didnt think of that :-)
