similar films

A good trio of films to watch is this one, The Big Chill, and Peter's Friends. All have a similar theme, and are still different enough to be entertaining on their own.

I also found Indian Summer, starring Matt Craven, Diane Lane, Bill Paxton, Elizabeth Perkins, Kevin Pollak, Vincent Spano, Julie Warner, and Alan Arkin also a similar theme of 30-something friends, former summer camp friends, gathering for a week reunion at their old summer camp in Ontario. But, The Big Chill, and Peter's Friends are still my favorites.

Similar in a way is a Swiss movie (yes , it's not all chocolate and cuckoo clocks...) Jonas qui aura 25 ans en l'an 2000. Probably hard to come by, but give it a go.

Then there is a British series (BBC I think) called Our friends in the North. Haven't seen it in 10 years or so but from what I remember it had look and feel, although it's not characters looking back on their lives.

Actually, it even more resembles the wonderful 1981 film "Four Friends" by Arthur Penn - a film about four high school friends who grow apart after high school. Must see. Films like "Return of the Secaucus Seven" are so fascinating to watch because you feel like you're watching some kind of human document. This is a groundbreaking film and watching the film, you almost feel like it gets to the secrets of life - of aging, and how you change after college, and how friends grow apart and become like strangers.

How about a sequel?

There's a 1995 greek film "End of an Era" (Telos Epochis). But really difficult to find it with English subtitles.

A movie that I recommend is a French movie Summer Hours (2008). It's about a family reunion, rather than friend's reunion, but that's not too different.
