I don't know if any of you caught it, he has passed away. I was looking at his IMBD resume, he made and conducted alot of good music. He was defintely on par with John Williams. Barry, bless him, had some trademarks to his film scores and this one has them, too. The music playing as the camera is panning the newly-raised ship (Cameron was probably inspired by that shot - see his Titanic (1997) for a similar shot) reminds me a bit of Barry's score for the Black Hole.
shareTher score for this is so good that Barry used it again for Out of Africa, and then Dances with Wolves. Well, almost.

shareIt was truly a sad day for Movies when John Barry passed. Despite his collection of Oscars most of the general public only know Williams. Barry, it could be argued, saved this movie.
