To be fair, it's easy to see why a lot people would prefer the more light-hearted Rocky. But yes, Raging Bull is a far better film.

As far as straight-forward feelgood movies go, Rocky is actually a rather solid and sympathetic one, but I can't really think of a single aspect in which it would seriously rival Ranging Bull.

It doesn't make sense to me why people compare such tonally different movies. It's like comparing Star Wars to 2001.
Rocky is a feel good movie. Raging Bull is a feel bad movie.

Exactly. RB is more complex. Rocky is more entertaining and inspiring. It's not hard to see why Rocky the more popular one.
I enjoy both films but IMO RB is the better one.

Raging Bull was extremely uninteresting to me. A bad film about a bad man who Should have just gone away after an hour. Some people make fun of Rocky's boxing scenes.. the boxing scenes in Raging Bull are perhaps the most unrealistic sports scenes in cinema history. A guy throws ten left hooks in a row and lands all of them?! Oooook. The only good thing about RB is the production value.. even the acting was kinda uninspiring. Pesci was good.. that's about it.

You can heap on Raging Bull all you want, but that statement right there is ridiculous. It's like saying the performances in the Godfather was "fine, but wasn't that great"
