Some Amazing Feats of The Film - and Other Notes

I consider myself a movie buff. I've seen the best films and some of the worst films. Going into this film I knew that it had high ratings from viewers. The most memorable things of this film to me is that shot that was taken in the ring against Sugar Ray Robinson (Jake's last fight that was shown). I LOVED that camera angle that they used. How it was framed, the lighting, everything in that shot was amazing.

I also thought that what De Niro did in terms of putting on weight after being in that shape, was extraordinary.

Having said that: I felt like the film was so long, repetitive, and boring. Don't get me wrong, the acting was great, but it just felt like everything was drawn out so long and it became dull. The ending of the film had me: "Really? That's how it ends?". I wouldn't ever watch the film again, but I thought De Niro did a good job of acting.

Another highly rated film viewed. Put it in the books as they say.
