How is it that on the same day he's expelled the principal sees him at the prom - and says nothing??

He was suspended not expelled. And he came as the date of a student of the school, so I don't think the principal could kick him out.

Suspended means you don't come to school for a period of time. There's no way they would let him attend prom.
Make excuses all you want but the truth is its bad writing.

Why would he be allowed at the prom? Stupid.
Lou and the janitor pervert are just obvious red herrings added to these old slasher films. They want us to think they might be the killer
