The original sequel

What was the plot going to be? I have heard two stories on it apparently one involved Alex coming back having not been killed in the original and the other had his mother be the killer.

Michael Tough did an interview confirming the idea about him coming back. As for the other I can't remember where I read it.

Aside from who the killer was I wonder why they were killing who they were. Alex had already killed all those involved with his sisters death, so who would he or his mother kill?

Here is the interview with Michael Tough who played Alex: http://www.examiner.com/article/murdering-teens-to-a-disco-beat-an-int erview-with-prom-night-s-michael-tough

In it he says:

"Oh, in the original script for Prom Night II, Alex was still alive and catatonic in a hospital bed. When the killing started again, there were various clues that Alex was on the loose! Never saw the script, just heard through sources that they were hoping to have the whole Alex sub-plot at work. But then a re-write left me out!!"

As for the idea of the mother being the killer I can't remember where I read that.

I too heard that Alex was supposed to come back. I never heard anything about the mother.

I haven't seen Prom Night II does it have anything to do with the original?

reply

Not at all. It deals heavily with the supernatural. The only thing the two films have in common is Hamilton High.

Interesting. I know HELLO MARY LOU: PROM NIGHT II was originally a stand alone film, but never knew an actual direct sequel to the original was planned at one point. Though I don't think a sequel involving Alex would've been necessary.

Jamie Lee Curtis would never have returned for a sequel (she was barely a blip on the radar in Halloween 2, but made up for it in H2O) BUT if she viewed her Kim Hammond role like I did...as such an original character during that slasher revival era: she was the heroine but not a target character, she had the central role in the film to whom every other character was connected through, an actual family otherwise unseen in the others even the original Halloween, a trio of gal pals much more likable than Annie and Lynda from Halloween, a great love triangle with Nick and Wendy, plus she was sexy, smart, sassy, etc.

In a sequel (let's say she agreed to star in one right after the original): her parents are still alive (her mother would most likely be in an asylum; Leslie Nielsen had permanently switched to comedies but could have been recast with another name actor), and so were Nick, Drew and Vicki plus Nick's father and red herrings Leonard Murch and Mr. Sykes. Plus there are fan-based rumors that both Alex and Robin never died (which would leave Mrs. Hammond in the clear but still a major character). And where was Nick's mom? There were photos in the McBride apt. of Nick and another guy in what seemed like some sporting event but no photos of his mother if she was presumed dead...maybe she deserted them! Plenty of possibilities!
