Casey Stevens

I liked Casey Stevens as Nick in the movie. he was a funny dancer. I read that he died of an AIDS-related illness :(

Does anyone have any information on him? On his life, etc?

Well, since he died of AIDS in the 80s, my guess is he lived an alternative lifestyle. That or he liked needles, but I'm guessing it had to do with the way he swung.

Just listened to the commentary. The director says he died 10 years later, so that would be 1990. But IMDB says the mid-eighties.

Theres a quote from Pamela Malcolm (who choreographed the dance sequence) that she found out a few years after making Prom Night that he was sick.

While I think that Michael Tough (Alex) was the best male character in the movie, when I first saw Prom Night as a young teen...I was really worried about Nick and was so shocked and surprised that Lou's sabotage of the night's highlight inadvertently saved Nick's life! Great irony! Awesome twist! Casey Stevens was a likable actor but slightly out of his league in Nick's scenes with Kim and Wendy (since JLC and Anne-Marie were so dynamic!). Casey was a fledgling young actor in Toronto whose life ended way too soon; among JLC's love interests in her horror roles, he's really the best one by default since Tom Atkins in The Fog was the same age as her parents, the actor who played Moe in Terror Train was a blatant Casey lookalike/copycat without the depth that Nick's character possessed (and I wish Casey Stevens could have displayed more effectively with a better director/producer!). Nothing against him personally or as an actor. The potential was there. And of course Jamie dominated the disco floor that he never had the chance to keep up with her! There are hits and misses with this character but in the end, I was totally rooting for Nick to survive! He displayed remorse for Robin's death (even though in a polarizing way, he triggered the bullying that led to her death during their sick game of hide-and-seek; what was his promised prize for winning? A 12 year old's first blow job from Wendy?). And like Happy Birthday To Me, his mother deserted him and Lt McBride (a promising back story which could have replaced the stupid Leonard Murch subplot!). Plus he was the only male target character in a slasher at the time to outlive the females! And in the original screenplay, Nick and Drew were best friends. RIP Casey Stevens.

I personally knew Casey Stevens aka Steve Paul...He died in 1994, we attended his funeral. He went to our church, and was an awesome human being..we still miss him dearly!

Hi this is billybob4412 (the original post was on the now defunct IMDb boards)
Can you tell me more about him? I read in a book he dated Jamie Lee Curtis and also was a flight attendant at one point. The book said he was in the process of restoring a hotel when he died? Also apparently his mother died shortly after.

Its sad really I'd hoped he would do more.

I found a Steven D. Paul buried in Quebec with his parents. His mother died less than 2 weeks after he died. So this coincides with the earlier comments. Go to www.findagrave.com and search for Steven Paul, died in 1994 buried in Quebec, CA.

I met Casey in Toronto in 1981. Visiting with a friend who was a dear friend of Casey, and invited he and his lovely friend Linda to dinner and dancing. We hung out for a few days, even driving to visit his parents in south Quebec. I drove, it poured buckets raining, Casey very encouraging about my driving ( when others weren’t as much) and we talked the whole very long drive of future dreams. So sweet. Always wondered what happened to Casey. A mutual friend said he married, but wasn’t sure of this. I sure miss his innocent smile and generosity. Thank you for your post. Did you know Linda as well?

Hello, I might be Linda, my name is Lynn but that happened a lot. I will never forget Casey. He took me to the party of the movie Prom Night.

I met him briefly as I stated below. I was living in the house where he was staying in a couch house, down in little Italy, Toronto.
