This is such a classic awesome comedy. I am blown away more people don't think so. I'm 32 and I don't think I'm that old but I guess the youngins don't get it and don't like it or it's outdated.
I think a lot of young people today don't like real movies with dilaogue and plot. It's gotta be fast, really silly and low brow... which I actually like as well. But it's so cool to see such a real movie that's funny.
I agree--this film is way underrated on imdb. What's with the voters? Are they all slobbering infants?
shareYou need to understand the age range of the majority of members who rate the films. It is late teens to mid thirties. That is pretty much evidenced by a lot of the films that are in the IMDb ' Top 250 '. They are programmed/conditioned differently than generations that preceded them. I agree that this film is underrated. It deserves a pretty strong 7, in my opinion.
shareI'm 24 and think it's incredible, save for the ending which, at the end of the day, can make ro break a movie. I imagine that had something to do with it. I don't think age has much to do with it seeing as how my 17-year-old neice (much older brother lol) bought the DVD after we watched the VHS together when she was here for a visit. My 11-year-old neice was amused by the part where Goldie Hawn says "Private Benyamin", but I imagine overall he movie "WHOOSHED" over her head a bit. IMO, it's a rare example of a movie that could have been 10-20 minutes LONGER to improve it.
Either that or their just rating HAwn's hairstyle at the end of the film...

I gave it a seven...I was shocked to see a 5.8...usually movies in the five range are watchable, at best.

yeah the imdb rating system is silly. This is an excellent comedy. Some of the films on the top 250 don't even belong there.

I wouldn't mind being bi. It would increase my chance of getting a date on Saturday night.

the part where she is doing her basic training is entertaining, but after that in my opinion the film tails off, i find it generally disappointing. I give it a 5, but I would give it more if the later part of the film was better.
shareOddly, I had not rated this before. Just now gave it a 7, just because I could not give it a 6...it’s better than a 6. I wish IMDB would let us rate films by the half-star. For me it’s a 6.5.
I can easily see though why it’s (presently) a 6.1 with IMDB as a whole. It’s average at best.
Just like to me some films to me are better than an 8, but not quite deserving of a 9.
