Armand Assante will poison your opinion of French men

When I was in Paris I met mild, kind, soft-spoken modest and attentive men. Not d-bags like Assante here.

To be sure french guys in their twenties are as awful as twenty year olds anywhere, even America. That's a stage males have to get through.

I always thought he was French but he's Italian isn't he?

I don't know about the actor in real life, but in the movie he's French alright...

I agree, it had nothing to do with him being French, he could have been any other nationality and still would've been a jerk.
But I think a sane person will see right through such a stereotype... or at least... I hope so :S

he's American.

I don't think the character was meant to be in his 20s though- he looked too old, granted the actor was 30 at the time of filming but he did look 10 years older, he certainly looked years older than the average 30 year old male. Judy would never have went on for a man in his 20s, she seemed to go for older men I gathered. I assumed he was late 30s- early 40s.

He (the character) mentioned once that he was 34.
