The Songs In These Rankin-Bass Holiday Specials

Some of my favorites have got to be:

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (1964) - Island of MIsfit Toys song, "Why am I Such a Misfit" close second.

It seems Clarice's song is a favorite with others.

Santa Claus Is Coming To Town (1970) - Toymaker to the King, Sit On My Lap, One Foot In Front of the Other (practically a given, like the MIsers' songs in Year Without).

Again, it seems Jessica's song is a fave as well with others. Never cared for her song or Clarice's. Clarice's song is kind of cute, but now it is difficult to watch Santa Claus without Jessica's song hacked to pieces.

Year Without A Santa Claus (1974) - Easier to say the whole soundtrack, minus Mrs. Claus' "I Could Be Santa Claus". That one just doesnt kick.

Love the title song and "I Believe In Santa Claus", the mayor's snow in Dixie song is a real wake-you-up-in-the-morning tune, too.

Even if someone HATES the misers and their song, you still got to admit how ridiculous they are.

Rudolph's Shiny New Year - Morey Amsterdam's "It's Raining Sunshine"

Life and Legend of Santa Claus (1985) - Little Black Cat With Yellow Green Eyes.

Even non-Christmas "Here Comes Peter Cottontail" with Casey Kasem and Vincent Price has the valentine song as well as Danny Kaye's "If I Could Only Get Back to Yesterday."

Have I missed any? Frosty the Snowman didn't have any songs, other than the main one.

Put these on a cd and I'd buy it.

I got the Jack Frost program recorded with Buddy Hackett and Robert Morse, but Hackett singing "Me And My Shadow" isn't that outstanding.

Don't recall if the Pinocchio program had a good song in it or not. I may be getting it confused with Disney's version, which I didn't realize that "An Actor's Life For Me" came from that movie, I may be thinking the fox and the (female) cat in Rankin-Bass' version might have had a nifty song.

I recall she was played up as comedy relief.

Ah, I think I saw Leprechaun's Christmas Gold (1981) once. Did it have a good memorable song in it?
