Did anybody watch his movie when they were a kid?

I'm 37 now, and never watched this movie as a kid. I can imagine how scary this movie would have been for someone like 8 or 10 years old. It would've given perfect nightmares, the atmosphere and music alone would've given the creeps. I don't know how it would've worked on today's kids.

I saw it for the first time at age 12 and it had a profound effect on me. I still love it at 34 but it no longer terrifies me.

i was around 10 when i watched it on video at home. alone...

ok my mom was just 2 rooms away and it was early afternoon. but still!
it definitely changed me lol. this movie and evil dead were THE shockers of my childhood.

now as a 40 yr old man i watched again. at night. alone. it still gives me the creeps.

especially the teleporting(!) zombies and the scene with the boy alone in the house with his sister. his dead sister...

its a nightmare on film. like "phantasm" which i love too.

imo this and savinis notld remake are the 2 best zombie movies ever.

yeah same here. Im 30
My dad was a regular client of all vhs rentals in the neighbourhood. Watched this, Zombie 2 and night of the living dead 1990's version. I just hated the teleporting zombies and the parts when the zombies squeezed the brains from someone- i liked Zombie 2 more ;)

I still don't know why, but when I was 16 I was feeling rebellious one day... I had a car so I decided to cut school the whole day... I drove into Charleston and really didn't know how I would pass the time, so I decided to watch a movie..yes it was this one...except when I saw it, it was called the Gates of Hell. It was one of the creepiest experiences I've ever had... To top it off, I was THE ONLY PERSON watching the movie in that theater that day... I just felt like I was watching something that maybe I shouldn't be.. The loud bell ringing when the priest was hanging from the tree and that drilling scene, both terrified me. I've seen many horror movies, but this one I'll never forget.
