Best DVD?

I just watched the Anchor Bay DVD and it was decent. I noticed there are a couple other versions floating around, and I was wondering if anyone knew if they were better than the Anchor Bay release. If not, are there any plans for a re-release?

anchor bay version is the best one to have. the quality on it looks pristine compared to the rest of the bargain bin prints that are floating around.. i have another one put out through 'madacy pictures' in 2004) not even worth trying around with the rest... theres a good reason those other versions retail anywhere from 2 dollars to 6 dollars... theyre just not that good. the madacy copy i have looks dark most of the time, picture is blurry - looks like a print from a 5th generation rental copy. eeegh. stick with the anchor bay one, its the best out there (and as far as i know the only one with commentary, trailer, etc)

I have the Anchor Bay version and it looks way better than the other version I saw originally. The cover is way better too.

I just recently got one of the cheaper ones out there, its the "Passion Productions" one, the cover photo isnt even from the same era as the film haha, its a shot of dennis hopper in some orange jail clothes and it looks like its about 1990. But as far as the picture quailty, it wsnt like pristine perfect, a little grainy here and there, but i gotta say it was WAY better than i expected it to be considering i payed like a buck for it. Id love to have a copy of the Anchor bay one but every one ive seen onlien is too expensive. Hopefully itll get a good rerelease one of these days, especially since Hopper just passed and people may wanna seek out his more obscure films.

Yeah I saw the same crappy "Passion Productions" edition myself, which seems to be--thankfully--OOP... no special features, subtitles, there's some weird art for the title screen that has nothing to do with the actual movie, and the film wraps/cuts back to the DVD release company's logo even before the credits are through... pretty amateur.

At the screening a couple of weeks ago in LA the producer said there is a new DVD coming in the future which will be of the highest quality possible but didn't specify as to when exactly that will be, so just hang on to your Anchor Bay DVD until the new one is released because for right now the AB is the absolute only good one floating around.

Im after a decent copy too. I have one released by Guardian Films lol its a shocker! The sound quality is aweful. Says "made in 1989" you think they would know it was 1980.. insult to such a powerful film that needs a pristine release on dvd, especially now with Hopper gone.
