Anyone else having trouble with the sound on this DVD?

The DVD I just got from the library is basically just the soundtrack album with pictures; the music is recorded at a volume that can melt limestone and the dialogue is recorded like the actors are muttering to themselves with a mouthful of foam rubber. Is anyone else having this problem or is the DVD I got defective in some way?
