Still think this movie got a bad rap.

I personally like this movie. I saw it back in 1980 when it first came out and have always had a video version of it (first VHS and now DVD).

I don't know why all the hate. It really is better than the other garbage that came out that year. Chevy Chase is funny and the dog is wonderful. Jane Seymour is stunning and Omar Sharif plays a great confused bad man.

I would never consider this a kids movie. Even the trailer for the movie makes a point that this is an adult comedy.

Don't care what others think. Every year or two I pull out Oh Heavenly Dog from my DVD collection and simply have a great time.

By the way, the DVD version isn't too shabby. The picture quality is decent and the soundtrack is stereo (with matrix surround encoded).

Just as a side note, the two songs by Elton John are from his album "A Simple Man" (Return to Paradise & Song for Guy). The album is available on iTunes and Amazon.

I think I saw this in the theater back in the early 80's. And later when it came on cable. It's an old favorite of mine. Even though the ending always makes me sad somehow. But it's a sweet love story.

I vividly remember this movie from when it was at the theater. I think this is what brought on my lifelong love of Britain.

I just saw it tonight myself, I liked it, personally Joe Camp's novelization was funnier but for the most part it's much the same. It may have gotten a bad rap and a lot of hate, but for some reason people are suddenly very eager to get it and pay a good price for that privilege.

I still like this movie. I used to rent it all the time at the local video store. It's entertaining, and that's all it needs to be.
