Back you up on this one! I also need to know where to get this on VHS or DVD.

The same here. Someone get it out on DVD ... now!

Maybe someone has the VHS burned to a DVD? Then I would love to have it ;)

And today the question still remains: How can one of the all-time best rock concert films, with seminal performances by so many of rock's greatest in their prime, still not be available on DVD? Politics? Greed? There's got to be a reason. Anybody know?

I remember that the soundtrack was rumored to be issued on CD for years and years. Finally it was in the '90s, but I got the feeling that there were so many artists involved and so many signatures needed that it was a huge headache. I'm guessing that it would be a similar scenario for a new home video release.

This a great concert movie though. Hopefully the obstacles will be overcome and a DVD/Blu-ray version will be released. The real shame of the VHS/Laserdisc versions that do exist is that they are full frame. Widescreen please!

And I really hope that any future release includes plenty of extra musical performances.

Good point, but I don't think music rights are the issue.

Back in the early 90's I first heard about "Heavy Metal" and the problems with it. I remembered it because it played on the midnight circuit at local malls for about a decade when I was growing up. When they released "Rocky Horror" on VHS in 1990, midnight shows in my area vanished. The problem was "Rocky Horror" was on VHS, but "Heavy Metal" was still in limbo.

When I was old enough to actually see it, because I liked animation and heard about it at the time, I looked and looked for a bootleg (well before ebay or any of that) but was told, time and again, rights were the problem.

If rights were the problem in the case of "No Nukes" (another one from the UA Cinema midnight shows) I don't believe it would have been released on VHS prior to now. Of course, something could have happened, but my guess is the desire for the movie is just not there and due to the fact that other artists are involved says the "face time" for a certain artist may not be enough to actually sell to people buying to see one artist.

Shame, because just today I went out looking, trying to find a copy. However, I'm finding the ONLY ones out there are on Amazon (VHS) OR on a "green website" for $50 and I don't know about the legitimacy of the site.

So, happy hunting, people. But, I'm not expecting this available any time soon. After all, unless I looked under the wrong title, Leonard Maltin doesn't even have it listed in his current film guide and Barnes and Noble does not even have a listing in their system....meaning it's not expected in the immediate future.
