almost a masterpiece

some amazing casting, writing and cinematography in this one. i think the only criticism i have, is that it doesnt finish off with a bang and sort of goes down a predictable route. i was thinking it was going to be a sleepaway camp/unhinged type of ending before either of those existed.

anyway however it was a great film.

I was expecting a The Dorm That Dripped Blood type of twist that ends during the climactic chase between Helen and Judy. I would've preferred if when Judy hides on the platform above the stage, Terry comes in to the room to find Helen holding the piece of glass to Judy's throat. Helen tells Terry that if he gets the police, she'll kill Judy. Helen instructs Terry to come up to the crosswalk where she and Judy are, which he does so. Terry asks Helen why she killed everybody, and Helen tells him that it was caused by the trauma of seeing her mother die when she was a child. Terry comes closer to Helen, and Helen points the piece of glass at Terry, telling him not to come any closer. When he continues to come closer, Helen attacks him with the piece of glass, stabbing him in the process, causing him to fall to his death from the platform. Judy attempts to run, but Helen grabs her and decides to make a deal with her. Helen tells Judy that if she pretends that Terry was the one who killed everybody, she'll spare her. Judy reluctantly agrees, allowing the police to come and believe Helen's story about Terry being the murderer. Then, two months later, we see Judy in a new play. She just auditioned and the director turns her down. Judy becomes filled with rage, making her run to the director, pull out a piece of broken glass, and stab him to death.

It might sound a little silly, but I always thought that would've been a better ending, the trauma from the childhood of the killer causing them to become a murderer. Then, the trauma of the murderer's killing spree causing the lone survivor to become a murderer, herself.

Ha, made you look!

That would've been a fantastic ending I just watched it for the first time thought it was cool but your ending would've put it over the top of alot of slasher from the time I think.

It started out so good but went downhill pretty quickly.

Some amusing effects too e.g. Man stabbed 1 hr or so into the movie - we can clearly see the stab wound on screen before the knife even touches skin!

Haha, love it! Thanks for the reply!

Idk, maybe with another re watch at some point I'll enjoy and appreciate it more, but I thought it was a snooze for the most part. The focus was way too much on the theater stuff, and the cast was slightly boring and stuffy. The lead actress was WAY overreacting too. Plus the only horror until the last 20 minutes is a bunch of pov shots, and the same repetetive score being played over and over. Stagefright from 1987 is a lot better.
