Motorcycle question

So Ricky is looking for a cylinder for his bike and there's a montage of Clifford and Ricky going around junk yards to find one. They seem to be looking at single cylinder but suddenly Cliff hands Ricky two units, one a single cylinder and also a two cylinder. The two cylinder is the one that Ricky seems to have been looking for all along...

I'm not a motorcycle guy but I have spun a wrench on my own cars, what the heck is going on there? Is this is a mistake or can a motorcycle somehow work like this? Again, take it easy, I know nothing about motorcycles. It just seems odd to me.

Ok the bike has a 2 cylinder engine and one cylinder is bad just like you could have a v8 car motor with one cylinder bad. I think even though they say all they need is a cylinder, to fix the problem the part needed would have 2.

Yeah but they were looking at the short blocks. Maybe I should have made that a bit clearer. If you have a V8 with a bad cylinder because of damage to the short block you have the replace the entire short block (all 8 cylinders). But that didn't appear to be what they were doing. It seemed like there was some kind of way to use two single cylinder short blocks to repair this engine. I don't know if motorcycles are designed in such a way that this is an option or not.

So what I really should have said was that they were looking at single cylinder short blocks but Cliff handed Ricky a two cylinder short block and it seems that it was the part needed.
