Did anyone have a friend like Linderman at school?

I was wondering if anyone had a buddy like Linderman when they were at school, who would stick up for them against bullies. I did.

He wasn't messed up like Linderman, but he was big, and he could fight! Not only did he stick up for me and the rest of our friends, but he also taught me how to fight back.

I'm in my 30's now and I haven't seen my buddy for about 18 years, I heard he's doing well though, got a good job and a nice family now.

I was wondering if anyone else was lucky enough to be friends with someone who was big and tough, but cool enough to stick up for the little kids?

I was playing foosball against three guys in 1970...they were getting mad at losing...suddenly I realized that they were positioning themselves around me and I was about to be in a fight I had little chances of winning. In walks Jack M....biggest guy in the school and weightlifter starting at age 10. "Hey Larry...you ok man?" hahahahahaha..."I am now!".
But those are only temporary fixes...people like that only stem the tide for awhile. It wasn't until I accepted a "fight in the alley after school" and showed up for it that the bullying ended.
Bullies are cowards. They prey on the weak. The moment they understand you will throw down with them, they move on to someone weaker. It is a sad reality but everyone (at least every boy) needs one good fight in their lives witnessed by as many people as possible.
