i got this on elvira's thrillervideo release, i ordered the old original vhs tape from 1985 and as i put it in the vcr it sounded like a tractor so i had to change to another vcr player, caution, very old tapes may wreck your vcr. elvira mentions macabre in the introduction which were to be the title of her series later on, and the monster club looks like it influenced elvira's hosting of "scared to death" starring bela lugosi. what an amazing cast for a horror movie, i figure this must have been made around the same time with similar cast in cannon's "house of the long shadows", this is how price looked in that from the clips i've seen in the documentary about cannon movies. what an incredibly weird vibe movie, you got these horror icons from around the 1950s mixed with some 1980s music beats and rave party, a bond girl, mixed with comedy in the dialogue, you can look away from the screen and back and each time looks like a different movie before it starts to revolve around a couple planning to rob someone, the movie fades out, vincent price disappears from the story and donald pleasence and others that the cover is suggesting are the main roles actually has very small parts. as i already had begun to suspect it was a segment movie and vincent price pretty much just gives a second introduction after elvira, once the first segment has dragged through though it has a deeper meaning to it not just goof. between each segment there also is a 80s music pop piece... uh... yeah. weird flick. i mean i can't say avoid it, the closing dialogue by price is a riot, while the actual segments are the dullest bits, as a full it's somehow entertaining.
