The last story..please explain.
Would someone kindly explain the last story. Who were "the elders"? Who were the two cops witht the teeth. What happened to the demons in the story art.

Old thread, but I had similar questions. The ghouls in the village did not look like the ghouls in the story art, yet they are supposed to be the same creatures? Unless the mysterious unseen "elders" are the demons, and the ghouls and cops corrupted humans. But the girl's father is a ghoul, the innkeeper, and he looks like a primitive inbred human, not a demon. Oh, I don't know. This story was cool, but these parts are puzzling. Maybe somebody can help.
I think the original ghouls (the ones depicted in the artwork) arrived at the village about 100 years earlier and had mated with the humans there--although why anyone would want to touch one of those things is beyond me.

I checked Wikipedia for info on ghouls, and it claimed that a ghoul will take the form of the last human body it consumes. I guess that's why they don't look like demons anymore. I wish the movie had explained this, though.
