Alternate Version??

I've been told about an Alternate Version that was apparantly shown on 'Elvira's ThrillerVideo'

Anybody know if it's Available at all??

Thanks :-)

I don't know if it is an alternate version but I have the Elvira Thriller Video version. Do you know what is supposed to be different about it?

The version on Thriller Video was the only way to find the film for years. It left much to be desired...pan-n-scan, Elvira cutting in on the credits (although her shtick is likable), a bad transfer with a tube camera, and obvious fades to black and some cut scenes (really not much, though) for commercials when the program was shown on TV. If that's what counts as 'alternate,' I don't want it. Unless you're a total Elvira fan, don't bother. The DVD is excellent and was long awaited.

I remember the Elvira edition. My grandfather had many of those in the really large black cases. This is the movie with the weird guy singing and the stripper takes off her skin, right? It's the only version of the movie I've ever seen.

I own both the Pathfinder DVD and the Thrillervideo VHS. If there is a difference, I've never noticed it.

I've since gotten the Version that is Available through Amazon.co.uk

There is an extra 10 Minutes on that one....most of which is in the 'Shadmock' Story

This is more than likely the Version that I was told about, as the Region 4 (Australia) Version doesn't go into as much Detail as the Region 2 one....the Region 4 one being 94 Minutues while the Region 2 one is 104 Minutes

what was in the extra 10 minutes of the Shadmock Story?

I ran them side-by-side. The Elvira ThrillerVideo version runs about 20 seconds shorter than the 97 minute Scorpion Blu-Ray (more in a moment). The VHS opens with the original ITC Logo (viewers who watched The Muppet Show during its original run should remember it), it's open-matte (not pan-and-scan), so a bit more is visible on the top and bottom, and the entire Loughville sequence of "The Humgoo" is covered with a blue day-for-night filter. The ThrillerVideos were specifically produced for the home video market, so there's none of the TV fades inserted for Elvira's "Movie Macabre," and she only appears at the beginning and end.

There's virtually nothing missing from the VHS that appears on the blu-ray (other than the Elvira segments); but occasionally a shot will begin or end a few seconds earlier - and there's one final line in the Vampire story ("Oh, we're a happy family!").

For anyone interested, I've put Elvira's hosting segments from the tape on You Tube:

Thanks Vinnie!

I saw this one afternoon on T.V. uhf channel I think.
I was eight & never knew the title till the mid 90's where I saw an episode of Joe BoB Briggs TBS short lived show.
I had severe food poisoning & was very ill.
Once I learned the title I returned to work & purchased our Thriller video
for rent where I worked.
Now I own the Blu-ray, sold my dvd stupidly(original U.S. dvd release had a commentary. And as I've read & heard I wasn't the only person watching T.V. that afternoon, as this story has been an almost constant conversation in my life with strangers since learning the title one rotten Sat. night.
Amazingly enough also is I never caught the Movie Macabre episode I used to sneak & stay up to watch that starting at age 6?
And I rented & purchased & later sadly sold, almost all Thriller videos as a kid up until now.
Thanks.
