Grease is STILL the word.

Yes- but any idea if the band(Night)ever made a record?

Yes, they had a hit in the early 80's with "Hot Summer Night"

Do you know the name of the singer?

in the uk, that singer sang the jingle for a brand of panty liners (!) called bodyform.
the advert played for 10 years - so even though nobody knows who she is, almost everyone will recognise the screeching wail of 'ooooh bodyform! bodyform for you!'
as for the stripper song - i think it's great - she has a bit of janis joplin about her voice.

reply

...and a couple of years earlier than that, people may remember her for the voice of Suzie in the Trio advert too :D

TRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIO!

LOL !

The only good song in the movie.

Personally, I think it was one of the funniest things I've seen in my life. Surprised no one has ripped it off for a music video.

Nice bones.

reply

Actually, it was kind of ripped off in the "Bones" video, by The Killers

(Late to the party) Also "Rock DJ" by Robbie Williams.

As a former stripper, I was ESPECIALLY amused by both the song and the strip tease; talk about "taking it all off!"

You might like to know that all the groovy music from the film is specially re-recorded as stand-alone tracks on the Pathfinder Pictures DVD release of the film, if you can find one.

I ordered it a few years ago off the net and was told it was a US R1 disc, but it doesn't actually say what region it is anywhere and it plays fine on my standard R2 DVD player. I don't actually think it's region encoded at all, though it certainly appears to be a US release judging by the lousy commentary.

It's much better than the recent UK re-release though, because it contains all sorts of great extras- including the funky tunes- whereas the newer release contains next to nowt.

I loved it. The scene and the song.

reply

I'm watching it now on The Horror Channel and I thought the singer had a really good voice. The stripper was hot too!

reply

It was a very good song and the singer had a great voice. It made me want to get up and dance and it was the only song in the movie that did that.

I've been waiting for you, Ben.

Everyone... great bones ☺
