Great Scene - Liz Taylor doing a scene within a scene

* Minor Spoiler *

Caught this on Netflix on Demand - Absolutely love love love the scene where Elizabeth Taylor is recounting her fear of being murdered, but it is really a scene from one of her movies. I was totally taken in with her performance until the investigator chimed in with the name of the movie and scene.

Great acting I thought! Anyone else?

That was a very good scene. In fact, I thought Elizabeth Taylor gave the only outstanding performance in the movie. She was also good in the key scene, in which she freezes with shock as the bore babbles at her. It was very well handled by the director, too, even though the movie as a whole is lackluster. Angela Lansbury is miscast, and most of the American actors—including Rock Hudson, Tony Curtis and Kim Novak—give artificial, TV movie-style performances.

I really liked that scene...PLUS I liked Kim Novak. After she has told the detective how much she loves the Elizabeth Taylor character and he reminds her that once she had tried to shoot ET, she turns on a dime and screams, "Did that witch tell you that?" I about fell off the couch dying laughing. Great comic turn by Novak!

Cheeseball. The scene is amusing conceptually but basically reveals that Liz IS the murderer, because only the murderer (and a huge liar) would do such a thing. Taylor is unsubtle and needy. It's obvious she's the killer from the moment her face freezes at the fete.

One of the best scenes of her entire career. In fact the whole segment with the inspector is beautifully played.(tho she looks far prettier in other parts of the movie.) But, oh, that wicked cackle she gives when the inspector finishes her lines!
