Bit of an inside joke I think. As we all know, Rock had two very wonderful leading ladies who became his great friends and champions in real life, Miss Taylor and Miss Day.
I loved it. Especially when you remember that Doris was a few years older than Elizabeth. Rock looks startled. But then he was a greatly underrated actor.
