I really wanted to like this movie

'The Mirror Crack'd" was one of the first Agatha Christie novels I read. When I bought the box set I could not wait to watch it. Of the three Poirot/Marple movies in the set this one I actually did not like. I love Angela Lansbury, but I just could not get drawn into this movie. I just sat there, waiting for it to be over. I know movies can never get the depth of the books, but, this one really lost me, or really never had me in the first place. Liz Taylor as Marina got on my nerves. I know the character is supposed to be needy and unstable, but I kept wanting to reach out and slap Marina every time I saw her. In the book, I felt kind of sorry for her. I am going to watch it a few more times to see if it grows on me.

For your sig, it's spelled James Coco, though the misspelling's a reference to Milo Perrier's love for chocolate.

Ever since Virgina Woolf, Taylor was convinced that she could act. But all she could ever do was be needy and over the top.

She's aslo fat with an unflattering hairdo. Nooone would fawn over that cow.

The initial situation is promising, but the movie get tiresome quickly.

Whoa! Liz gets mauled!

I am glad I am not the only one who disliked it. I loved the book, so I was real disappointed.

Love, love this movie. Thoroughly enjoyed all the actors and actresses in this lovely adaptation. Never read the book so I made no comparisons. That's probably why I enjoyed it so much. That's enough for me.

The acting was really bad/OTT - perhaps bad directing as all the actors and actresses have been great in other films...

I wouldn't bother seeing this movie again. I seen it twice and hated it more after the second viewing. Taylor is not British-which is the problem with her. As for Lansburry, Though she is British-her accent has become too Americanized due to her being in this country for a long time. She became a Us citizen in 1952. Besides this, is the script-it's bad.

These two actresses have done better things before and after this turkey and their work in this film undermine their incredible talents.

I prefer the Joan Hickson TV version of this story. I like Angela Lansbury in movies, but she only comes fourth on my favourites to play the Miss Marple character so far.
