Why is this film Rated 'R'?

Mary Steenburgen's beauteous posterior and other various nudity during a couple of strip club scenes.

That would do it.

Thank you.

Nah....

Thank her!

Not only because of the Steenburgen nude scenes. Also because of an extremely raunchy and explicit line of dialogue spoken by Pamela Reed's character, regarding Melvin Dummar's anatomy.

Over here in the UK the film is rated 12 which is just like PG-13 in America except it's 12 and over.

Just viewed this film on HBO. Now years later, the R rated scene of Mary now stripping, appears completely nude, as she walks toward the camera. All these years later, the scene is missing!
I think Mary made a deal with Demme to find all the prints and to cut the film. It can't be my
imagination, because I remember wondering why a girl with a body like hers would allow such
an explicit scene to take place.

^^^^^^

you may be mistaken, as i just rented the dvd and the scene is still intact, and i would imagine that imdb would list the edit under the alternate versions sections.

reply

i saw it on cable a littlw while ago and she definitely was nude.

reply

Many years later and the scene is intact on FLIX. Delightfully beautiful!
